Scarab Brooch
Client:
Virzi Jewellery
The scarab beetle is a symbol long associated with luck, transformation, and protection in ancient cultures. Reinterpreted through a surrealist lens, the beetle becomes both ornament and talisman, suspended between symbolism and fantasy.
Cast in bronze using the traditional cire perdue technique, the piece reveals the warm tone and substantial feel of the metal, whose richness is further enhanced by an 18k gold-plated finish. Chosen for its sculptural presence and satisfying weight, bronze lends depth and character to the piece.
Each brooch is individually cast, refined, and hand-polished by skilled jewellers, preserving the subtle variations that make every piece unique. Designed with a pin closure, it can be worn as a singular accent or multiplied across the body, allowing the beetle motif to become part of a larger surreal composition.
