The ebonized wood structure gives the chair its vertical line, while the cotton velvet covers the seat and continues across the back, allowing the piece to read fully from front, side, and rear views.

The contrast is kept deliberately clear: ornament and symbolic weight at the front, restraint and shadow through the rear structure.
