Elytra series
I began drawing scarabs in the 1990s, in my first collections, and have continued to explore the symbol...

Bench
The Elytra bench sits between a bench and a narrow daybed, built around the series’ curved, enclosing gesture.
The bent wood rises gently at the ends, creating a continuous frame with a light, open structure around the upholstered surface.
Cotton velvet upholstery with diamond tufting adds softness, richness and a more dramatic presence. The cylindrical bolsters reinforce the sense of enclosure and give the piece a more relaxed, generous character.

Sofa
The Elytra sofa develops the series’ curved, enclosing gesture into a wider and more generous form, with the frame carrying the piece in one continuous movement.
The wooden structure holds the memory behind the name Elytra — the protective wing cases of beetles. The side curves lift, open and return, expanding the gesture first explored in the Daybed and giving the sofa a deeper sense of enclosure and protection.
The upholstery brings the counterpoint. Cotton velvet adds softness and depth, while the broad seat and cylindrical cushions give the piece a relaxed, generous presence.

Lounge Chair
The Elytra Lounge Chair brings the series’ curved, enclosing gesture closer to the upholstered body of the seat, in a deliberately oversized form.
The wooden shell opens through the sides and rises into the back, holding the upholstered body within one continuous movement. The form carries the memory of elytra as protective wing cases, translated into curvature, proportion and containment.
Cotton velvet softens the structure, while the broad seat and cylindrical bolsters give the chair a generous, enveloping presence.
Final dimensions are currently being developed as part of the 3D model.

Daybed
The Elytra daybed extends the series’ curved, enclosing gesture into a wider, more generous form.
The bent wood rises at both ends, creating a continuous frame around the upholstered surface and reinforcing the sense of enclosure and protection.
